Shutting down culture in Iran
In recent weeks, Iran has clamped down on cultural institutions, including officially revoking the license of 27-year old publishing house Cheshmeh Publications, and shutting down the country’s independently-run House of Cinema. Here is a look at Iran’s latest restrictions on culture from Small Media, a London-based organisation that develops technology to promote the flow of information in closed societies.

I’m Iranian and when I read these stuff,I cry! because we have no freedom of anything in Iran. We are forced by Islamist fanatics to be Muslims..and we don’t want to be , we want to be free again! Our culture is dying B/C these fanatics see everything as a threat to Islam and their establishment! What can we do?? We can’t even protest, if we protest we risk our lives, we could die or be prosecuted for disturbing the Islamic state… We need help. it’s soo depressing to see our beloved House of Cinema to shut down. Iranians we love film and we love expressing ourselves through art, it’s our right to express ourselves through art , why is this aganist Islam? why is this a threat to them?? Everything is a threat to them. WHy do they want us to go aganist our nature? How can we not be artistic? When Iranian blood and nature is Art and poetry. I’m so sad for Iran, will it ever change? Everday it gets worse….. Everyday the rope on our necks get tighter, there is no will to fight, everytime we stand up and say something they get stronger and shut us down quicker. I hate them, I want a free Iran. I have to back in 2 weeks to iran and i’m already deprssed for my people and my art and the spirt of iranian art.
